It's taken me a long time to figure out why The Big Lebowski is such a cult movie and isn't more popular. The Coen Brothers have made some huge films, so why don't more people know this? Especially since this film stars Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Julianne…

I may not understand much about this movie but i do know one thing. THE DUDE ABIDES
Honestly don’t get the hype behind it. I’m usually open to watching and understanding anything but I don’t get this movie. It’s funny in some scenes, but majority of the movie is extremely slow paced and sluggish. Plot is overdone and imo doesn’t make much sense. Not the worst

9.3 - Iconic. The cultiest cult classic ever. Every character is well written, the story is both absurd & well grounded, the direction is perfect, & it’s full of iconic quotes and imagery. Can only see my rating going up on rewatches. But that’s just my opinion, man.
It’s just one of the most original films ever made, perhaps the best world the Coens imagined and the one filled with its best characters. 26 years later, the movie where every detail matters and doesn’t matter at all, is as hilarious as ever – and more poignant.

"You want a toe? I can get you a toe dude, believe me there are ways" 😭😭 One of the best comedies I've ever seen, what a cast I NEED like 10 more films with them asap. Hilarious. Loved the reference behind stfu Donny. 4/5
Unhinged Movie. I never thought I needed to see John Goodman as a Vietnam war vet but I did. Lost it every time he spoke. Made me want to go bowling. Some wild scenes that deserve the skip skip. Be careful out there.

Metacritic
The movie is as visually inventive and wildly eccentric as the Coens' earlier movies, but it lacks the emotional maturity and moral clarity of 1996's Fargo.
For those who delight in the Coens' divinely abstract take on reality, this is pure nirvana (cross Blood Simple with Raising Arizona if you must), yet beyond the hysterical black comedy, scattered violence and groovy dialogue, there sounds the same song to human goodness which enriched Fargo.
A deliriously fractured film, ambitiously packed with bowling, bimbos and other great inspirations of latter-day thought. Closest in style and temperament to Raising Arizona, this Gramercy release should roll box office strikes with select-siters and score some winning spares with mainstream viewers.
