This movie is awesome!! I live in NC and had no idea of this great piece of history in our back door!
Excellent Movie!!! I'm glad this story was told and we as a nation can learn from it.
This movie has a great message about compromise at a time that we need it. The casting was great and convincing. This is a story I had never heard of. I know many movies opened this weekend but I recommend people check it out. You know the pacing is good if the movie flies by and the audience is paying attention. This is not the greatest movie ever made but it does a good job focusing on the leads during the week their lives changed.
this a very powerful movie
Maybe the best movie I’ve ever seen..
Love it
wonderfully acted and the type of film we need more of... especially today, as the events and attitudes portrayed occurred in many of our lifetimes.... lest we forget.
Without much fanfare or advertising The Best Of Enemies is very good. Based on a true story it is very close and duplicates the feeling of The Green Book which won most major awards last year. The cast was outstanding and there isn’t a dull minute in the entire movie. This is a very good movie and highly recommend it. Make sure you stay to the end to see the real life characters the film is based on.
just a inspiring movie to see...to see this is happening today
Depicts how prejudice stems from ignorance and how information produces power, understanding, and sometimes even love. I want to see more movies as this one-an inspirational foundation for all to follow.
good movie. shows give the chance people can change
Loved it!!! What the world needs to see right now.
Fabulous movie and an outstanding cast!!
very good Movie a must see.
Excellent film! Historically relevant, made me cry, inspirational.
Liked how it wasn’t overly dramatized for a true story
I believe this movie will be nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress and best supporting actor. Possible blooper - the movie took place in 1971 and towards the end of the movie the lineup of cars I believe had a 1974/75 Chevy Monte Carlo!!!
Overall the movie was pretty good. It was inspiring to say the least, but was also comical at times. The cast did a great job
the scenes were a bit abrupt and the story implied something other than seeing blacks as equals but rather being seen as inferior due to shared poverty. but great acting
I was in the 1st grade when this was happening, and I attended an integrated school. That is all I had ever known.
Metacritic
The “beats” in the story where hearts are supposed to swell are so telegraphed as to render The Best of Enemies emotionally flat. There are no surprises, no change-ups, no setbacks in this collision of sensibilities.
Despite the strong performances and more than a few audience-pleasing moments where peace and love triumph over stupidity and bigotry, the film travels such an obvious path and falls into such a predictable rhythm, it doesn’t quite carry the emotional resonance such a powerful true-life story should convey.
Bissell’s fudging of the facts (which includes completely making up the reasons behind the charrette) doesn’t create a story that’s more insightful or dramatically cohesive than the real thing; the only thing it reveals, if indirectly, is liberalism’s longstanding discomfort with the relationship between civil rights and labor movements.
