I docked a half star for this movie not being able to predict how nicely Daniel Day-Lewis would age

That was probably the most boring 2.5 hours ever. Winona looked stunning and Michelle slays but I cannot say that I enjoyed this movie in the slightest. Very slow and boring
not a fan of the cheating plot so i didn’t enjoy this very much. michelle and winona kinda made up for it but still very meh
The word sensual is not one I would normally associate with Martin Scorsese’s directing style, but this film practically drips with sensuality. The yearning and fleeting touches and tension between Newland and Ellen was at a level of intensity that took my breath away.

4/25/26: What a gorgeous and poetic story. Such a contemplative picture that feels like a discreet whisper. Grandiose in such a soft setting. Martin Scorsese needs to direct more movies like this!
I thought there would be more to this than a typical romance film, especially with this stacked cast and Scorsese at the helm, but it was okay.

A movie about how men’s greed ruins women’s lives. The ending pissed me all the way off. Archer deserved nothing!
Scorsese says this was his most “violent” film and honestly, I get it. Devastating in a good way.
