Atom User Reviews for The Aftermath
Beautiful sets, gorgeous scenery, beautiful mansion. Interesting story which is revealed in bits and pieces as the story is told. I thought it was engaging. I learned something of history as well. Well worth the time and money.
boring predictable and slow.

There’s nothing wrong with Aftermath, but for one strange and nagging thing: To watch it is to want to be faraway from its world and everyone in it. The movie draws a circle around itself that holds no attraction or appeal, though it’s in every other way competent, well-acted and reasonably intelligent.
Director James Kent’s adaptation of Rhidian Brook’s 2014 novel — about a ghost-like Germany, a broken British marriage, and the healing powers of a passionate thaw — has the unfortunate quality of a hot-blooded soap grafted onto rather than merged with a historical-political drama.
