Enjoyed this overall, but a bit more in theory than in practice. In part because I think it’s having 3 or 4 different comically meta but genuinely academic conversations with itself about the slasher genre at any given moment (its upsetting history of misogyny/transphobia,…

Never have I laughed and sobbed at a movie. Incredible symbolism, every part of this movie is a masterpiece. Oh and tiddies.
A film that begs for multiple viewings, because there's no way you're getting it the first time around. Its themes of sexual repression and the way our culture informs our sex lives is so potent and so real. Required viewing for anyone who says "I don't like sex scenes in movies"
Fantastic queer romance using horror language to talk about sex. There are no jump scares, but lots of blood. Hannah Einbinder puts in a hell of a performance, and Gillian Anderson brings a layered magnetism to every scene. Even the opening credits sequence is brilliant. 👨🍳💋🤌

I might have enjoyed it more on the second watch, im not sure. Just being able to take it at fave value and just enjoy it for what it is. The camera work and editing is so sick! The split diopters, and the like german style very obvious editing in that one scene, record player!
I’ve been having a bad time watching some really good horror movies lately, so it was nice to finally just feel good watching horror, even if it was just ok. And that’s kind of what this movie is about. Maybe we can ditch the guilt and the pretention and just have a good time.

There was a ton of self insert and meta self insert. the commentary was very explicit but on more of a preface for why it's about the slasher sub-genre. I wasn't really moved by the way desire was shown personally, but I think it was interesting how it equated most desire.
I’ll be rewatching for sure. I’m obsessed with the set design/cinematography, the painted backdrops/evidently artificial sets/real locations. The campiness, the stupid product placements, the themes of trans/queer sexual exploration and repression. This was a joy to watch.

Was that a movie about how horror movies watched as children screws up your ability to have an orgasm?
JMJill MillerI had low expectations for this film and yet was somehow still let down. The opening credit sequence was awesome and built a great backstory for a movie, and when I saw it starred Gillian Anderson I was hopeful. But those hopes were soon dashed. This is a bad movie about a…
