Synopsis
Iconic, darkly comedic, and thrilling, the three-time Oscar®-winning Sunset Boulevard returns to the big screen for its 75th anniversary. Fame isn’t forever—just ask Norma Desmond. Once a Hollywood legend, now a forgotten relic, she refuses to fade away. When struggling screenwriter Joe Gillis stumbles into her decaying mansion, he becomes trapped in her web of obsession, control, and delusion. What starts as an opportunity soon spirals into something far more dangerous. Dark, twisted, and eerily relevant, Sunset Boulevard is a haunting look at Hollywood’s unrelenting cycle—where youth is currency, talent is fleeting, and no one stays in the spotlight forever. Are you ready for your close-up?

When I first moved to New York I lived in a rent controlled apartment in Chelsea with a 65 year old woman who used to wake me up at three in the morning to tell me about the 70s and who I’m about 80% sure tried to poison me when I was moving out. Was a very stressful living…

I don't smoke and never will but I want her cigarette holder so bad. First sugar mommy ever. Incredible film, kind of reminded me of Pearl when she said "I'm a star". Looking forward to watching the rest of Wilder's work.
Excellently written and acted, Sunset Boulevard is the most gripping film I’ve seen in a while. Through the tragic tale of Norma Desmond l, we are taught of the perils of the ego and of obsession. This film is so excellent. There’s a reason why it’s a classic. 9/10

"Sunset Boulevard" delves into the dark underbelly of Hollywood. With its sharp dialogue, haunting atmosphere, and powerhouse performances, particularly from Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond, the film remains a gripping exploration of fame, obsession, and the price of stardom.
The sharp dialogue kept me hooked, and Norma's unraveling was both tragic and captivating. The cinematography, especially the haunting close-up at the end, made her downfall even more chilling. The way it was shot added so much to the film’s eerie atmoshpere

I've seen 4 films of Billy Wilder's now, and he just doesn't miss. A master in the film noir genre with a great story and cast that always deliver excellent performances.

What's not recognized enough is the indelible, self-sickened performance of William Holden as Desmond's boy-toy/hired hack.
