sarahNov 9, 2020That shot of Bruno staring at Guy amongst the tennis crowd whilst everyone else’s head swings back and forth like a mii in wii sports is FREAKIN GLORIOUS. Hitchcock Ranked List

Barbara is the equivalent of whatever a murder podcast nerd was at that time.

We've always been on the outside, pushed there, shoved out, damned for who we are. It's easy to remember the blacklisted communists, but they came after the queers, too. Even before the Code, even before the blacklist, we always had to hide it, to make it subtle, to hint at…

Fantastic Hitchcock thriller which showcases his broad talents since it’s so different to some of his other films. Fantastic performances and an even better script. Marvellous direction and some of the nicest camerawork I’ve seen from a 50s film. Unconventional and brilliant

This could’ve been a short film bc honestly the premise is wobbly…and the police work shoddy as hell. “He says he didn’t do it…you heard him.” White male crustiness in the 50s. Helluva drug. Also: Bruno Anthony. Lolz.
2024 Rewatch: Remains a solid, though not standout, Hitchcock entry with good photogrpahy and tension. Does a great job making Bruno a constant looming presence.

Hitchcock goes big on this well played thriller. From the tennis match, to the storm grate, to the merry-go-round. Well paced.
Good Hitchcock film with a sort of unique and engaging story with some very compelling performances.
