Putting so little respect, attention, funding, and prestige on the title of “teacher” might be where we failed most as a society.
Kit LazerSep 22, 2025Love how cillian murphy won an oscar and went right back to getting films he believes in made.

This is one of those reviews/analysis that I get a bit scared to share because I don’t know if I’m stating the obvious or, on the other side, reading too much into it. Anyways, I knew I wanted to rewatch to give the ending an interpretation. So straight to the point: I…

cillian murphy is genuinely one of the greatest actors of all time and one oscar to his name is not enough, every emotion he portrayed, i felt it... the third act absolutely destroyed me, teachers are such a vital part of a child/teenager's development and it's important to…

Murphy’s performance anchors this film and makes it more emotionally engaging. It’s tackling many difficult subjects; mental health, burnout, and failures in the education system, among others. There is a focus shift on characters that threw me off, but it’s otherwise good. 6.5
A film that doesn't quite know what it wants to be. The camerawork, cinematography, acting, dialogue, and graphics all blew me away. Murphy, Ullman, Lycurgo, Burford, Watson, and the list goes on. The casting, locations, and music all around were great. The plot starts strong, following individuals…
“Shy, reveals how a refusal to confront our own darkest thoughts and actions can lead to defensiveness and isolation, whereas an acknowledgment of all the ways in which we’re capable of failing — of being human — can bring us closer together, can form community.” -KRISTIN IVERSEN

Tender exploration of an extremely behaviorally challenged group of outcast kids and the teachers trying to rehabilitate them. Cillian plays a troubled head trying to help troubled kids, and while it’s the lesser of his recent collabs with Tim, he almost moved me to tears on here
what a genuinely heartwarming story of a school for an overlooked, yet talented group of individuals. cillian truly continues to show his true passion in the work he puts out. so beautifully created, with a much-needed message. something different and inspiring amidst the chaos
if this have been based on a true story I would have liked it more because then I would have understood the reason why they couldn't change much and make it more interesting. it goes nowhere from start to finish. it's just a sad story about kids that have behaviour issues

Putting so little respect, attention, funding, and prestige on the title of “teacher”. This is definitely a failure of society. What a pity that teachers aren’t celebrated, instead having to suffer the endless emptiness of: “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.”
6.8/10 Good performances, but at times I wish characters and relationships were more explored. It was shot very well and the teacher-student relationship felt perfect at times. I insight the news crew provided was intriguing, however, it felt unnecessary at times
