Atom User Reviews for Stan & Ollie
Reilly and Coogan portrayed the two wonderfully and I couldn't hope to find better fits for those roles. A darling picture of two old friends. Life always has a way of mucking a good thing up eventually. So the story goes. Loved the movie. Sad to see how their lives played out. Go see this! So many laughs to be shared. I wish more of this generation knew who these two were.
well acted and thoughtful production. Movie that actually has a story and makes sense while celebrating friendship and work ethic.
It was like watching the real people
Enjoyed the acting.
Great movie! Should have more promotions.
The performances were unreal, so glad I went
Respectful of the iconic comedy team. Film made me appreciate them more than I already did.
Reminded me of “Topsy Turvy” with Jim Broadbent — you got a sense of what was behind the Duo
I went into this movie not expecting a lot and left the movie in awe on how good it was.
Wonderful!!!!
It was a good movie about a great comedy team and about show business. It’s worth a watch. I enjoyed it and the acting was fantastic.
its an uncanny portrayal of Laurel & Hardy. Best movie of the year.
Moving and well done
So glad i finally got to see this film. Steve Coogan and John c Reilly did masterful job in their roles. if you're a fan of their work watch it, it's a must see! if not the performances alone should stifle a ticket purchase. After everything that's that's bound to come out in the cinemas to which i am a fan, it was refreshing to see a picture like this and about two actors and comedic legends whom I am grateful I was introduced to as a young boy.
The likeness to the real Stan & Ollie was remarkable. The story was charming - The genuine friendship between them was undeniable.
we thoroughly enjoyed this trip back to a simpler time...great cast...bittersweet
Great casting. Touching and clean.
Nice Movie
The acting was superb and the story was emotionally compelling, but I would have appreciated a bit more background/context. Worth seeing.
great film.. waa connected to the characters and felt their emotion
One of the best movies I've ever seen. Funny and heartbreaking. I laughed but also was "choked up" by the end of the story. Wonderful!!! This movie deserves several oscars.
What friendship is about.
fantastic and touching story of a friendship and love
One of the best I’ve seen in a long time!
Great movie about the friendship of this comic partnership.
Metacritic
An unexpected portrait of the legendary comedy duo on a mostly forgotten stage tour at the twilight of their careers.
At its best, Stan Ollie shows how the private and personal dimensions of art are achingly inseparable.
It gives Steve Coogan one of his finest screen roles to date and for Reilly, it’s another triumph right on the heels of “The Sisters Brothers.” Whether you adore Laurel and Hardy or have never seen them in action, this film celebrates both the artist and the tenacity it takes to remain one.
