Why did the movie where Jim Parsons gives a handjob make me cry?
Travis BurgessJan 1, 2023Not sure if I threw up because I’m still hungover from NYE or because I was crying so hard I couldn’t catch my breath. My guess is the latter, but honestly it’s probably a combination of both. Substack Week 1 Recap
Joe ADec 7, 2022This is one of those films that’s genetically engineered specifically to make you cry. My wife even said on the way to the theater, “I can’t wait to cry.” It’s safe to say that this film delivers on that promise. Most of our audience was sniveling by the end. It’s a tender…

Cried with 100 gay men in the theater while the macho security guy in the back sobbed the loudest
GraceDec 5, 2022I feel like a whole mess after this. It really hit hard in the feels. So sweet and adorable. Great performances from its leads. Jim Parsons was so good and such a standout. He really is a talented actor. Enjoyed it a lot.

This movie starts off happy and funny, but it quickly becomes sad. I tend to avoid movies and shows that have anything to do with cancer, and I had no clue what this movie was about when I started it! But it was good! And very sad! 8/10

What a win for queer rep especially in the rom com niche. A heartfelt story that will likely leave you in a puddle of tears. Such great performances all across the board and paired with a beautiful screenplay.

8.3 - there’s nothing surprising, as the title alludes, but it’s a great love story. Equal parts heartbreaking & heartwarming. Parsons & Aldridge’s chemistry is solid. Could have skipped one subplot, but I’m always a sucker for emotional drama & recommend for anyone needing a cry
I don't know if I like Parson's acting mainly because I watched too much big bang theory but also because of the Muppet movie where he is the human version of a Muppet and now all I see is the emotion limits of that in his roles.

The movie does not beat you over the head with the tragedy. Rather a love story without the happily ever after that made it sweet and sorrowful.
