A bit slow and would have enjoyed the real music instead of the covers.
It’s like a strange and misguided takeoff on “All That Jazz” as funneled through “Rock of Ages,” and while there’s no denying the heart and effort behind the presentation, that finale is representative of the movie itself in that it has an uncanny way of hitting the wrong notes.
As a movie, Spinning Gold is a clumsy effort with a lot wrong with it, except for the real-life story, which never stops being interesting.
The filmmaking lacks the style to pull off its willful blending of fact and fantasy. At least there are the songs to enjoy.
