Let's talk about the pun in the title of this animated comedy. Spies in Disguise = spies in the skies! Lance Sterling is the world's greatest super-spy. When a new danger threatens the entire world, Lance turns to scientific genius Walter Beckett, a gadget inventor whose work has kept Lance alive more than once.
This time, however, Walter has to turn Lance into a pigeon. Spies in the skies, see? Blue Sky Studios, the creators of the Ice Age films, has created this hilarious take on espionage that features Will Smith as the voice of Lance and Tom Holland voicing the geeky Walter — with Rashida Jones, Karen Gillan, DJ Khaled, Ben Mendelsohn and Masi Oka voicing other characters.

Ok, I’m not sure what’s wrong with some of you. I see movies at least twice a week, and I have seen some bad movies. This movie was really great. Beautiful visuals, great cast. Funny and kid appropriate. Great film!!!
Best movie of 2019 way to end the year will a good Family friendly movie we loved it everyone was laughing.
Neither the humour nor the script is particularly sharp, although younger viewers may not mind the slapstick simplicity.
Antic and frantic, Spies is very much a one-joke affair, which is fine for a short but woefully insufficient for a 101-minute feature.
As unsatisfying as Spies in Disguise is because of its disregard for original design and the insufferable nods to disposable trends, its role as counterprogramming to toxic masculinity — turning ruthless spies into sensible beings with warmth as a moral compass — makes it ephemerally laudable.
