They all needed a big hug but all they got was Arbeitsunfälle & Generationstraumata
Amelie ♡May 14, 2025Unfolding like 100 years of home video footage that were shot by the family ghosts, Mascha Schilinski’s rich and mesmeric “Sound of Falling” glimpses four generation of young women as they live, die, and suffuse their memories into the walls of a rural farmhouse in the…

Sound of falling asleep
Ulysse22May 17, 2025You've heard to the male gaze, you've heard of the female gaze. Now try death's gaze. Strong contender for my favorite thing from the festival's opening week. Read the full review and the rest of my Cannes Week 1 recap here.

Under a different viewing experience probably would’ve liked it. At surface level it might seem like the 4 stories are not connected, but that’s not the case at all. Film lost me at the stretches where it committed to surrealism. Usually am an appreciator, but it didnt work here
this is a no i watched it in karlovy vary on the film festival and I haven't even red anything about it do the whole time I was watching it I was trying to make sense to it it still didn't work but if I could watch it again I would watch it differently and everyone was confused

In just her second feature, Schilinski creates a true art-house epic, haunting and lyrical.
The attraction is in the haunting texture of the picture, its delicate, breathy wonder.
A bravura example of an endangered species: the unapologetically enigmatic, visionary European art film.
