Perfect movie if you want to reorient yourself on your couch and go "aaAAAaa jesus christ" every few minutes. Provokes such visceral reactions I'm aching to rewatch it with different people. (Several months apart, so my bones have time to settle between viewings.) Makes…
demi adejuyigbeNov 2, 2016A cinema of madness. Pure physical detail. Damnation as a form of cinematic spectacle. Man with blood in their hands fulfilling their death wish. What for Clozout is social need, for Friedkin is self-punishment. First world crimes reimagined in a third world purgatory, an…

You work, you enter a hellish hysteria of dirt and blood and rain and fire where your flesh is as valuable as what it can physically carry for the company, and then you die. Full discussion on ep 170 of my podcast SLEAZOIDS.

KarstenApr 21, 2021Incredible that Friedkin destroyed himself and his crew to make a masterpiece and audiences were just like, “This sucks. Let’s go see Star Wars again.”

visually striking, consistently entertaining and wildly unpredictable, a unique and transformative film that blends different settings, cultures and forms of peril to create an amazing film. more than solid in all regards with wonderfully detailed cinematography; incredible title

I enjoyed the introduction to the characters, but there's a large portion of the film that drags quite a bit till we get to the plot. Once we get there, though, it gets very intense all the way through, especially that bridge scene, which is pretty crazy.
TERRIBLE remake of The Wages of Fear. Like genuinely so much less thrilling and frightening than the one from 1953, this one makes it a happy little story with far less of a terrifying journey. Just watch the original oh my godddddd. Boooooo! Booooo! 🍅🍅

Probably my favorite of the Friedkin films I’ve seen. It is very tense and will have you on the edge of your seat about guys driving a truck through the jungle.
Even though it may tone down some of the stakes of the original, it still passes as a solid remake while finding tension and dread in new ways
