I mainly watched this because I wanted to find some good places to explore this week around Palm Springs that are mentioned in this doc. As far as a filmmaking standpoint, this doc felt very amateurish in its editing style and structure. Maybe could’ve made a better short…
Jake Alda CoffeyJul 11, 2020A nice little doc on Sinatra's time in Palm Springs, the subtitle of the show is The Place He Called Home. From the 1940s to the 1980s he lived in Palm Springs, a relatively quite town where he could just be himself without a lot of fans or people bothering him. They…
RetroHoundDec 3, 2020"Frank demanded respect." Not a particularly well made documentary (like wow, the lighting on the interviews is just awful!) but by focusing specifically on Sinatra this documentary gives an interesting history of the city of Palm Springs, and it also has some good…

This was an interesting documentary behind Hollywood megastar Frank Sinatra. Explored his charity, marriages and mostly his life in Palm Springs. I would love to see a follow up about architecture of homes in that area as that was the part that fascinated me the most.

While I admire Sinatra, he’s not my favorite performer of that era so I wasn’t drawn to this documentary for him. In all honesty, I watched this because I’m really missing my desert oasis/midcentury haven these past few weeks and I wanted to catch glimpses of some MCM…
SpiderrBabyy 🕷️ ✨Jun 28, 2024A look at Frank Sinatra's life in Palm Springs CA, told through interviews with many of his surviving hangers-on. In docs like this, I try to separate my feelings about the subject vs. the film. So let's start with that subject. Sinatra is clearly an icon, and if you…
Noir-ishFeb 13, 2022Pulls together to give insight into the glowing generosity of a giant and how it impacted his community. I liked Sanatra a lot before. I not only love him now, but I understand why God gave him the gift he had. Plus vintage footage of desert towns is always a…
