Wine is probably the most boring subject on Earth, so how come Payne’s film about a lonely, bitter best man (Paul Giamatti) taking the soon-to-be-groom (Thomas Haden Church) on a week-long tour of vineyards is so bloody good? Perhaps because of Giamatti’s astonishing…
Rick BurinNov 8, 2019all i remember is my parents loved this movie but i was too young to watch it and it's their loss because if i did watch this when i was eight in 2004 and seen sandra oh looking like That maybe i'd still be straight and maybe we'd still be a family... oh well! time to open…
kyleSep 28, 2015I am going to be directing the remake of this but instead of wine it will be about craft beer. It stars Shia LaBeouf and The Rock.

I thought this was gonna be funny but now I’m just sad
FlynnFeb 7, 2017not to brag but my mom was at Yale at the same time as Paul Giamatti and one time he was drunk in her dorm common room
cathyJul 12, 2020I had a light appreciation for Sideways in 2004 and that has remained the same, both men are just so awful in differing ways, but what's aged even better is its most famous scene: Paul Giamatti and Virginia Madsen discussing why they like wine on the back porch. In…

This movie is probably certified to make you open a wine bottle while you watch it and like good wine it’s actually very smooth to consume. It really takes its time to get you to sit with the complexity of its two main characters that will make feel sympathetic to them in spite…
a strangely great blend of hilarious and off-beat moments coupled with moving commentary on mental health and being “successful.” i personally felt connected to the characters and their driving forces. perfect acting, writing, cinematography, music; paul giamatti is just amazing

An incredibly heartfelt, comedic view of midlife crisis, depression, and celebrating life’s simple pleasures. An indie-darling for sure, but this is far more than award-bait cinema. This one has all the feels, and it is worthy of multiple viewings. It tastes so f¥£!^& good.
Really well written and characters were fully fleshed out. Great acting. Think this would’ve blown my mind in 2004 when it came out, and I realize this movie probably paved the way for other similarly paced indie movies, but I just felt like it was good, not great.

really liked this despite the men being the worst people ever, especially Jack… but equally Miles. The non stop wine theme really made me feel thirsty. In end i actually loved Miles’ character development and I hope he’s happy.
What an amazing movie with flawless performances against the lush backdrop of NapaValley. It's both funny and sad, unpredictable and offbeat. Gets better every time you watch it, like a fine wine 🍷 😉
