Synopsis
Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer (“Ghostface”), the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe. Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite in Scary Movie alongside returning favorites and fresh faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.

Moviegoers are saying
Audiences are split down the middle, with the Wayans crowd laughing hard at a meme-stuffed parody that packs in Teyana Taylor, K-pop Demon Hunters, and a 'six seven' joke. Fans who grew up on Scary Movie 1 and 2 call it hilarious and 'every joke hit,' while detractors say it's 'more desperate than funny' and a few walked out before the halfway mark. The sharpest split is whether you find the pop-culture barrage clever or exhausting.

“Edgy” Facebook humor mixed with nostalgia bait might be the worst kind of comedy. Less funny, more desperate. At least the ending was a bit clever, saved this from being a complete disaster.

Better Ghostface motive then Scream 7 by far
Logan Kershaw is "meh" onScary MovieIt’s just alright kinda. Half the jokes hit and half either had me straight faced or actually creasing in the chair, pretty cringe. I think not only do you need extensive knowledge of current horror movies to get every joke or bit, but be active is American politics, some jokes I think know one…
Bung Finger dislikedScary Movieit's not the trans jokes, it isn't the race jokes, or any of the supposed dark humor. it's the endless references, the lack of plot, and the lack of creativity. it has no depth outside of saying "remember scary movie? that was great right?" not a single clever joke in it.

Hal Jester dislikedScary Moviewish they waited a little longer to do a new one. seemed like they just used AI and combined several past Scary Movie scripts and them updated the movies they were spoofing. do not watch!

There is a killer, stop the killer
Michael Lamar White II dislikedScary MovieThis felt like a knock off of scary movie. This genuinely felt like a tubi movie, which is hilarious because they make fun of tubi during the movie. I chuckled at a couple of jokes, but the entire movie was just filled with random references that don’t actually have punchlines. This might…
Caly dislikedScary MovieThis is my first time ever watching any of the Scary Movies. I might give the others a try but this one… the jokes were just really stupid to me. They got a few giggles from me but for the most part I was getting confused with all the jump cuts.

In 2026, a “Scary Movie” making fun of “Scream” movies, which from the get-go were inside-joke takes on horror films, is like a Russian nesting doll of comedy, where the laughs get smaller with each reveal.

Mileage seriously varies in terms of the funny here. If you don’t laugh at one bit, don’t worry, because another dozen or two will come flyin’ atcha in a minute. But every time Faris and Hall are onscreen together, Scary Movie comes the closest to hitting a groove.

Watching seasoned older comedians target the young for caring too much is bad enough, but seeing them miss even their softest targets makes Scary Movie the most embarrassing movie spoof since Scary Movie.
