Some bark, zero bite. In 2024, there has to be someone out there not named Mike Flanagan that can direct a proper King adaptation.

I’ve never seen the original so I have nothing to compare to, but I enjoyed this movie. It’s campy and cheesy at times but it fits the vibe of the movie.
majd likedSalem's Lotliterally only watched for lewis. quite a few scenes ate so hard. honestly enjoyed more than i thought i would. nice halloween movie, loved the 1970s fall vibes. everything (characters, plot, town, backstories, etc) was very surface level tho which was a shame sometimes :/.
Nick Dubberly is "meh" onSalem's LotWhen I first heard that this was coming out, i got extremely excited! I wanted to see how faithful it was to the novel. The ending feels like it’s over too quickly and just ends. If I hadn’t read the novel I would have liked this more, but that’s just me.

As someone who has read the book and enjoyed the 1979 miniseries, this adaptation is very look-warm. There are noticeable editing mistakes and strangest cuts throughout, mixed with some spotty acting. For a mild vampire popcorn flick, it's ok mostly. I'd give it a 5/10
Miss Honey likedSalem's LotI’m between meh and like. I like the story, but it could’ve been a bit scarier/more suspenseful. I hate Susan and her stupid haircut and don’t really like the protagonist. The only characters I really like is Mark (he CARRIED the entire movie) and the doctor.

Perhaps this story actually could have benefitted from the multi-episode series treatment, thus providing room for us to get to know more about these characters and their back stories, but as an old-fashioned scary vampire movie, “Salem’s Lot” serves its purpose.
