Some bark, zero bite. In 2024, there has to be someone out there not named Mike Flanagan that can direct a proper King adaptation.
Joe AOct 3, 2024Mark is an absolute legend, that kid should be the mayor of Salem's Lot
Marshall 🌲Sep 29, 2024Can we just give Stephen King adaptations to Mike Flanagan, please? Because clearly he's the only one who understands the necessary vibes and how to put compelling characters on screen.

This thing desperately wants people to believe it’s a Mike Flanagan product. And that’s ok, because the spooky atmosphere and vintage Stephen King vibes are definitely there, but the whole story is completely stripped of the book’s themes and turned into more of a…

I was here for Lewis Pullman as the lead.
KyloOct 1, 2024This thing was cut so many times it bled to death.
Brian TallericoOct 3, 2024Extra half star because the finale is actually pretty good but otherwise this is another frustrating example of how King should be a slam dunk to adapt into something interesting/fun but continues to be low hanging fruit for studios. I think the ultimate killer here is that…

I’ve never seen the original so I have nothing to compare to, but I enjoyed this movie. It’s campy and cheesy at times but it fits the vibe of the movie.
literally only watched for lewis. quite a few scenes ate so hard. honestly enjoyed more than i thought i would. nice halloween movie, loved the 1970s fall vibes. everything (characters, plot, town, backstories, etc) was very surface level tho which was a shame sometimes :/.

Slightly cheesy but I think it matched the entire 60/70s vibe…nice creepy eerie feeling with some comedy as well…a fun little watch..nothing scary truthfully but it is a good lil camp movie 7.7/10
Bad cgi. Poor acting and a poorly made movie. Not scary not really interesting to watch.

As someone who has read the book and enjoyed the 1979 miniseries, this adaptation is very look-warm. There are noticeable editing mistakes and strangest cuts throughout, mixed with some spotty acting. For a mild vampire popcorn flick, it's ok mostly. I'd give it a 5/10
I’m between meh and like. I like the story, but it could’ve been a bit scarier/more suspenseful. I hate Susan and her stupid haircut and don’t really like the protagonist. The only characters I really like is Mark (he CARRIED the entire movie) and the doctor.
