Atom User Reviews for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City
This movie was nothing but randomly showing characters / locations / puzzle items from the games hoping that fans would like it and the story points go minute by minute before they cut to another story plot with the wrong characters at the wrong place . “ how the hell did no body notice Lisa Trevor get all the PD keys before there was even a single zombie “ just a straight up we don’t care cash grab .

As a RE fan from the first game all the way to today, it was nice but could have been better. Clearly a love for the series is noticable but I feel Sony forced them to make "modern" changes. All the male characters were made stupid and had to be saved by women, Leon was the worst. Great for Easter eggs and the set designer was A1. Rest was meh, you can wait for a stream
I think they tried to put the two games together in one movie and they cut out a lot of interesting things from the game and it also felt rushed the story.
What a waste of time disappointed what they did to the story there just trying to get views from easter eggs from the game
Knew this movie was not goinna live up to expectations since it is driven from like 4 RE games. The source material is too all over the place. Miscast of all characters. No original character traits. So laughable when it shouldn't be and where it is intentional, they do ok 75% of the time. The "horror survival" actions were nice but then you remember it's all wrong. Watch it only if you're not familiar with RE games, then play games. I hope this movie gets hated so bad, that someone who actually knows the franchise who's to reboot the way they did Spiderman. and they want us to think there's a sequel. and the missing characters......so awful
yuck
No Rebecca.
They can do better
Surprisingly good. I had a great time. Excited to see what they do with this reboot.
I went in with low expectations and I had a good time mind you I have played all of the Resident Evil games this is a okay movie if you go in with low expectations.
It could have been a great movie, but it ended up lacking. Fell asleep & I'm a hardcore Resident Evil fan too
Very good interpretation of the games. Great casting and good Visuals.
look they took some liberties with Leon but oh man is it the resident evil movie all of us have been waiting for
Reminds me of the video game.
Boring and
it was good scene wise but actor and story wise it was not all that great
it's a fun time
I went in with zero expectations, so the film style of Welcome to Raccoon City and the story telling was refreshing.
Just terrible. Cold.Sadness.
expected more to tie in from previous movies. not just zombies getting shot. would've like the details to come out.
It was an interesting combination of the first 2 mainline games. I can't really say much else without spoiling it, but it combines the entire story of the first 2 games so they happen simultaneously, the characters who die have a different death in this movie.
Missing out on major plot points! Wring characters paired together! Leon was such a wuss which is furating! However if you don't know the games then it was fantastic! I want more
I had a lot of hope that it would do better than the original live action movies but to me it was worse. Still a fun movie to see with friends tho.
Offensive. If you’re an actual fan of the game don’t watch it.
Great Movie
from my understanding, this is rebooting the films that came before. however, i much prefer those to this. when/if the sequel get released, i may change my mind since all the characters now have a back stories...
If you're a fan of the series, it's a great movie. Much better than the Anderson Saga. The pacing is great to start, but is a little rushed near the end. Plenty of humor to lighten the mood, but the action scenes are tense and scary. I was super impressed with the zombies, especially the itchy tasty part.
Just cause you put beloved characters in a movie doesn’t mean that we’ll automatically care for them. You gotta make us like them and interesting. I’d rather re-watch the mortal kombat movie then this.
I like it. Lots of jumpy scenes. Kinda gruesome.
Wait until it comes out on a streaming service.
As far as movies based on video games go it was ok. It needed more monsters!!
a bit slow but lots darker and creepy than the older movies.
So I would start off by saying I have no idea why anyone is hating on this movie. Resident Evil Welcome to Racoon City is amazing, creepy, dorky in all the right ways, and frankly just an amazing realization of the games in movie form. There were one or two cast choices I did not agree with but otherwise the casting and script was spot on. The action, dorky humor, as well as the horror were all amazing. All the camera angles and anything that seems awkward is all clearly intentional. The dorky long zoom in scenes really capture the awkward nature of Resident Evil in all the right ways. Honestly, don't take my word for it, just give it a watch and be honest about what the old Resident Evil games actually were. The old games were dorky, fun, a little eerie at times, but overall just charming, which is what this movie truly accomplishes.
Awesome piece of work
Made for gamers
Need to have played Resident Evil, to get the references
Great movie highly recommended
Bad movie. Bad casting. Don’t even like it as a resident evil fan
a BIG let done. A big CASH GRAB
Good movie, not as good as the older versions. The visuals were good and I like the creepy added aspect
was great for story and sticking to the games, ruined by one of the worst castings I have been unfortunate enough to see. honestly the moves was fine other than a cast that made it hard to watch
The story was a bit rushed not a bad movie just expected more. It just felt like cosplayers making a YouTube movie. But it was not bad nor good just ok.
Simply awesome
This movie is worst than new space jam.
Very Very Good
was one of the better movies I've seen this year
worst movie I've ever seen
A defecation of a movie
follows the storyline of the games. great film!
Metacritic
If indeed this is a full on franchise reboot, this “origin story” is no Welcome to Raccoon City at all. It’s a warning to avoid ever coming back.
It’s not terrible as far as video game adaptations go, but as with many of them you’ll be wondering what the point is when a superior experience already exists.
Whatever the flaws of the previous Resident Evil series, those films were never as dull as Raccoon City. Roberts doesn't seem to know how to milk anything resembling genuine horror out of the material here.
