Beatty going "hey for my second movie as a director I'm gonna get Stephen Sondheim and Vittorio Storaro and make a 3-hour epic about communists" is a truly baller move
Patrick WillemsOct 17, 2016Warren Beatty's Reds has to be considered perhaps the most ambitious, frankly crazy, film released by mainstream Hollywood. It is, in 1981, a sympathetic, if critical, look at the 1917 Russian Revolution. The film focuses on the life and career of John Reed, the journalist…

Matthew ChristmanJun 4, 2026Reds is far more than just a film, it is a bold, largely forgotten epic and the culmination of a nearly 20-year obsession for Warren Beatty, a versatile artist, actor, producer, and director, who deserves far greater recognition. This passion project, conceived in the…

Wonderful movie about the life of John Reed. This Lawrence of Arabiaesque movie tells a great love story and the rise and fall of a man’s revolutionary ideology. Quite peculiar directing with the inclusion of real attendees with insight throughout the film. Worth a watch indeed!
