I kept waiting for something drastic. I thought the film was building towards something explosive. I thought the father might walk out and never come back. I thought he might die and that's why the need to recollect, the need to see in between the lines, to see what wasn't…

veronicaNov 7, 2022You never really shake that feeling of seeing darkness in your parents that you don’t understand yet. The sudden realization that holes are being poked in your perfect image of them, and you don’t know whether to resent them or pity them or all of the above. I don’t like to…

Subtle yet haunting. It’s a slow and delicate movie and even though the ending seems really quiet, it punches you in the gut with emotions once you put the whole picture together. This one should’ve taken home academy awards best picture without a doubt. 🏆
really good but i fell asleep and there’s a shot of his butt i didn’t like and i got confused at some parts of the movie tbh

This movie hurts in one of the best ways. Having a loss of someone important in your life because of depression and suicide can be difficult. Aftersun reminds us that it is always more complicated than we think. Survivor’s guilt is never fun.

a depressing “slice of life” type movie. pretty boring and i agree with the charge that it’s “too artsy for its own good.” the writing was slightly pretentious which surprised me and made it difficult to take seriously. but i can see the value it may potentially hold for some.
Movie looks good in terms of the aesthetic and colors being used but I’d say that’s about it. Oh actually the acting was quite good. Explores the ideas of depression and is based on the directors life, I’m not the ideal audience but I could see it being powerful to some.
