MJ is "meh" onRe-AnimatorAnother take on the Hollywood Frankenstein. The first ten minutes were very captivating. The rest of the film was fairly predictable (with some uncomfortable nudity reoccurring throughout the rest of the film).

I Am Mervin 2 lovedRe-AnimatorThis movie’s like getting sprayed in the face with cheese whiz and that’s a great cheesy time. Re-Animator had its genuinely scary moments but is mostly played for laughs. Some parts that were intended to be scary near the end fell short. Very well paced, felt short.

Re-Animator is cheesy, stupid, and super over the top, but in all the right ways. The movie manages to be both funny and unnerving (and it has a wonderful score), but it does seem to drag a bit here and there despite its short run time. Still a fun watch though!
Brightlyn lovedRe-AnimatorThat was a wild ride. For anyone who loves classic horror films this is a must-see. Pet Semetary might have done the same plot better, but this schlocky gorefest stands on its own and only Jeffrey Combs could play someone so meek yet so eerily lacking in empathy at the same time.
Cinemutt is "meh" onRe-AnimatorManic pixie murderous mad scientist and his roommate. 🧪 Awesome first half, …weird (in a not great way) second half. There were so many places this could have gone and it didn’t (+ places it did go which were so unnecessary) but Herbert and Dan are a bromance for the ages.

One of the pleasures of the movies, however, is to find a movie that chooses a disreputable genre and then tries with all its might to transcend the genre, to go over the top into some kind of artistic vision, however weird. Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator is a pleasure like that, a frankly gory horror movie that finds a rhythm and a style that make it work in a cockeyed, offbeat sort of way.

It is almost as though these filmmakers are afraid they’ll never get the chance to make another one, and Re-Animator doesn’t hesitate in being an almost operatic, larger than life comedy of splatter. While it paints with a big (red) brush, it is never boring.
