Synopsis
See if you can put this together: Agnes (Kelly Macdonald), a relatively quiet and unsure woman who can barely operate an iPhone, receives a jigsaw puzzle for her birthday. Completing it in what seems to be record time, she realizes she’s quite talented at the art of jigsaw puzzling. Cut to her traveling to New York City to find more puzzles, and connecting with champion puzzler Robert (Irfan Khan), who is recovering from the departure of his former partner/wife. Puzzled? Well, if you guessed that they head off together to a puzzle tournament in Atlantic City, then you’re quite talented as well! How do all the pieces fit together at the end? You’ll have to see the film.

Surprisingly sweet and far less cookie-cutter than I thought it would be. All the senior citizens in the audience around me applauded when it ended. I contributed a few golf claps. From the trailer, I thought this looked really plain, but the conservativeness and closed…

BethAug 24, 2018Suffers from some blandness at times, along with some poor pacing, but the film is saved by a great cast (especially Kelly Macdonald).

Had such high expectations from this movie, but the ending was really disappointing.. Nevertheless, amazing acting by Irrfan Khan, Kelly McDonald, husband, and kids - definitely worth a watch if you are a Khan or McDonald fan. Just gloomy throughout 😑

SLStanley LeffThoughtful exploration of a conflicted woman forced to choose between two men whose worldliness and lifestyle are both appealing but are worlds apart.
