This 1980s horror film tries a Shakespearean style but suffers from unnatural dialogue in its modern setting. It features excessive imagery, amateurish camerawork, & over-the-top characters, with only the neglected little boy feeling believable. Many seem to enjoy the film more for its obscurity…
Visceral, intense and graphic filmmaking. Youre right there with the characters during all the mayhem and you feel all and every emotion. Unmatched atmosphere and an understated but great score. Isabelle Adjani gives perhaps one of the best performances of all time, she’s amazing
an incredible surrealist film that succeeds in every regard as a showcase for horrifically dedicated performances, amazing cinematography, and thought-provoking symbolism. isabelle adjani delivers an all-time great performance that may never be topped. a true horror masterpiece

"Nobody told me that. Well that's why I'm with you, because you say 'I' for me." A rewatch and it's getting even more amazing. One of the most powerful performances of all time, also has some of the best scenes in history. Will probably change to love later. 4/5
After my first watch I am left with questions and emotions I’ve yet to bake through. The movie was visceral, scathing, and bleak, in a beautiful kind of way. The absolute helplessness of the relationship is almost mocking, and the grotesque honesty was moving.

found this on a list titled ‘She F*cukes What?!’ and it lived laughed loved up to the title. Lots of milk, lots of screeching, and lots of rewinding because I kept thinking O missed something
deleting all movies I’ve watched, this is the only one that matters, terrifying and so shocking i don’t understand it but I love it, too much milk involved tho but it’s literally amazing 🙁

To watch Possession again is to realize that it remains one of the most grueling, powerful, and overwhelmingly intense cinematic experiences that you are likely to have in your lifetime.
There are plenty of movies which seem to have been made by madmen. Possession may be the only film in existence which is itself mad: unpredictable, horrific, its moments of terrifying lucidity only serving to highlight the staggering derangement at its core. Extreme but essential viewing.
