"Well, I'm not a pathologist, but even a layman can see it was done with this." (points to extremely bloody chainsaw sitting right next to eviscerated body)
Jeremy MilksJul 14, 2018Listen, I am here to tell you today that, and I don’t say this lightly, this is absolutely the greatest 80’s slasher of all time. I know that might be a bit of a bold horror statement to some, but you’ve got: B-movie power couple Christopher and Lynda Day George, exsquisite…

“Well Roger, my Dog of the Week is a reprehensible piece of sick trash called Pieces, a particularly grisly entry in the neverending line of mad slasher movies. The so-called ‘story’ is nothing but an excuse for grisly killings on a college campus, each more tasteless than…
Will SloanJan 14, 202058 Still don't love this, wish I did. Weirdly low-energy, with all its inept quirks and big moments lost among a glacial giallo pacing but lacking much of the style. Hilarious moments, sure, and it adds up to a weird concoction, but it's no comparison to Slugs.
SilentDawnJul 30, 2025Saw this on the Pieces Wiki page: Billy Kelley, entertainment writer for the Fort Lauderdale News, awarded the film no stars, describing Pieces as a "gross-out extravaganza" and a "bargain basement abomination".I mean… who doesn’t want to watch this (even if you already…

Pieces is totally hardcore obsessed with like, four basic things: a) matching blue top/bottom separates, b) blood smears on floral prints. c) everyone in heels nearly all the time, especially during jazzercise and d) tucking sweaters into high-waisted jeans. there is a…
nathaxnne [goodbye <3]Mar 1, 2024I'm going to walk into work Monday morning and ruin everybody's day recommending this so enthusiastically that it will register in their bodies like I'm screaming at them.
Branson ReeseApr 7, 2017The ultimate. Exactly what you think it is. J. Piquer Simón somehow out-Italians the Italians, ratcheting up the sleaze, gore, and utter incomprehensibility to levels that not even Fulci would touch. Pigs are carved up, genitals are crushed, soundtrack cues are lifted…

Atrocious acting, Why are some of the voice lines not lined up with the audio on screen? Saw the twist coming a mile away, so many random moments. Felt like I wasted my time lol. The ending 😭 horrible like 2/10 maybe lower
i like the aesthetics, but this movie sucks. its a bad plot, bad acting, bad script, and its super misogynistic (per usual). it has some silly and fun moments but its just not for me

A simple horror movie that has everything you could enjoy. Nudity, gore, scares, and a fun “who done it” vibe.
Phenomenal schlock horror with great practical effects and a whole lot of sleaze. My faves.

It’s a one of a kind slasher!
Metacritic
The movie manages to luck into that ideal combination of over-the-top bloodshed, gratuitous nudity (of both male and female types, though the latter is, as expected, the mainstage show), and unintentional absurdity for which enthusiasts of the genre are perpetually on the hunt.
Pieces may not be in the same league as the slasher classics but fans of the genre will find much to enjoy in this knowingly silly exercise in day-glo splatter.
