A truly grueling 30 minutes followed by an okay 30 minutes followed by a great 30 minute payoff that almost makes it worth it- but boy, do really you have to be committed to finishing this movie for it to be worth it. The structure of this film is both necessary and…

Etienne GardeNov 29, 2018When you thought you've seen enough genre movies. When you thought you’ve seen enough zombie movies. When you thought you’ve seen enough comedy movies. When you thought you’ve seen enough zombie comedy movies. When you thought you've seen enough Japanese movies. When…

Taking this off of Kate's "Never Seen It" list... (here's the link if you want to follow along at home) https://letterboxd.com/flanaganfilm/list/movies-kate-siegel-hasnt-seen-but-has-probably/ My third time watching this - I just LOVE this film. Best viewed knowing…
Mike FlanaganMay 20, 2020This film should be seen by anyone and everyone who loves movies, zombies, subversion, intelligent writing, B-movies, a good laugh, very clever filmmaking and surprises. So basically you. One Cut of the Dead will have you raise your eyebrows in doubt in the first act,…
DirkHJan 20, 2019The critic in me died while watching this ! I just want to hug all of them who made this gem possible ! I know it's doing great in Japan ! But it deserves a lot more than that !

It’s not saying very much to declare Ueda Shin’ichirô’s debut feature the best zombie comedy since “Shaun of the Dead” — no disrespect to the likes of “Life After Beth” and “Scouts Guide to the Apocalypse,” but the decomposing sub-genre has been in desperate need of fresh…
davidehrlichNov 25, 2019THAT... was completely unexpected and actually pretty awesome. The first 40 minutes had me confused, thinking "why are people loving this movie? what is going on??" But then it ALL makes sense, and it's great!
Marianna Neal 🇺🇦Jun 20, 2019Officially the greatest film ever made to capture the feelings of making a film. “Action!”

Don’t read the synopsis, don’t watch the trailer, just watch it. After you make it through the first 30 which won’t make much sense, it eventually provides the ultimate payoff. Brilliant, hilarious, and unique. Can’t stop thinking about this one! H/T @remembersteven for the rec
I almost turned this off. The opening is terrible. But you find out it’s mean to be. When you get to the story behind it and the execution of it the movie suddenly becomes very clever. Let me tell you though. Not knowing that. First 30 min rough ride. Came close twice to shutoff
Start of the film is about a filming shoot with a real coming in and the movie director is insane about having a great but this movie has a twist from watching it, its revealed that is a film thats about making a film with a wholesome heart worming in it for a zombie film❤️

i had to convince my partner SO MUCH to watch this all the way through with me lmaoo they loved it. really good and funny movie!!! just sucks that you have to have faith for 30 minutes before the good part starts
watched this without any context of what it’s about, and i want to say it’s worth it! you might think it’s boring halfway through, but i swear it gets better and you’ll be amazed! so glad i watched thisss

Love love love. Don’t read any spoilers or anything really! Just go in blind. And even if you want to turn it off, don’t. It has the most amazing pay off by the end. Trust me.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. Super fun and not really scary, you kind of have to watch it to understand. I think it's a cult classic.
