great wholesome fun movie to watch with the fam
Damien dislikedOldboyAlmost kicked my best friend out of the house for making me watch this.
Bailey Fraser dislikedOldboyFoul. Absolutely foul, if you enjoy this movie and the rape scenes then honestly I don’t know what that says about your character. All I can say is there wasn’t a single second I enjoyed this movie. A man and his love interest WHO IS HIS DAUGHTER BTW. Disgusting -9000/10

I watched this back in like middle school or something and barely remembered anything, which worked out I guess bc I couldn’t remember the plot twist 😭😭 But one of THE BEST film scores imo the waltz is too good 😤
لانا dislikedOldboyDidn’t do it for me. The so called “plot twist” everyone talks about could be seen from miles away. Oh he met a girl that’s approximately his daughter’s age? And for the rest of the movie the daughter is never seen again? Take a guess why. Also stupid plot and story overall
Thebluemonkey69 lovedOldboyOldboy is good but heavily overrated. No a lot of people will think this is a blasphemous statement but i think this film is not that good up until the 3rd act. It has arguably one the best 3rd acts oat and the best twist in cinema. But it hard carries ngl 8.6/10

Edit: Unfortunately I spoiled the ending for myself by reading reviews. Not much has changed for me though. Sorry @hrs but even though the incest is a tragedy it was more of just cringy for me. I did like the iconic fight scenes though, that did change for me.
Jess dislikedOldboy“Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Weep, and you weep alone.” “Be it a grain of sand or a rock, in water they sink as the same.” “Even though I'm no better than a beast, don't I have a right to live?” Huh. But morally right..?
Britny D is "meh" onOldboyI enjoyed it thoroughly up until the big plot twist and ending. Most likely innovative and unique for its time, but didn’t age well in my opinion.

Universal acclaim based on 644 Reviews
Oldboy is mostly absorbing because of the intense anguish radiating off the screen at all times; Park’s ability to effectively communicate obsession, and put the audience in the head of someone who has almost entirely lost touch with his sense of self, feels unparalleled to this day.
David Sims
The Atlantic
Oldboy has the fatal air of wanting so desperately to be a cult movie that it forgets to present itself as a coherent one.
Anthony Lane
The New Yorker
A wild, intensely cinematic ride into two men's burning desire to get even.
