Yeah, not very good. I will probably forget it exists in a couple of weeks. Will watch anything for Cooper Hoffman though, and am excited to see him in more movies.  2025 Ranked

Old Guy is a movie you've seen before many times. The difference here is that the buddy comedy aspect doesn't work very well because the comedy is not good and the chemistry between characters is almost non-existent. The 90 minutes runtime makes it watchable though.

terrible movie (exactly the kind of terrible that gets a slight boost from being watched on a plane) but i’d go to hell and back for Cooper Hoffman

entertaining enough i guess but honestly had so much potential :( really enjoyed the cast and their dynamic but wish they could’ve been utilized more writing wise.

I really enjoyed this film. Christoph Waltz is great, no surprise. It’s always endearing when an unusual friendship is formed. This film was fast-paced, unexpected, and creative. Worth the watch!

I mean, it was an ok watch. Wasn’t brilliant. Had some moments but could have been better. Still could have been worse. Not lining up to rewatch. 5.5/10

If it weren’t for the cast and some humorous banter this would’ve been a “meh”.

Three big names doing a professional job … but the target isn’t found.

Ideally, you want your action comedies to contain compelling action sequences and funny comedy. At the very least, it’s fair to expect one of the two. Despite a semi-compelling relationship at its core, “Old Guy” isn’t nearly as funny as it thinks it is, and its set pieces are quite flat by action standards.

Old Guy looks the part of a classic, character-based action-thriller, but, ultimately, the script is far too flimsy for the film to coalesce into something interesting. It's too bad, as Waltz could almost certainly crush in one of these, given the right material.
