Absolutely excellent. Damian Mc Carthy's engrossing, terrifying followup to his atmospheric and chilling CAVEAT is a masterclass in dread, atmosphere, and tension. An arresting opening sequence involving a woman answering the door to an unsettling stranger blossoms into a…

Genuinely couldn’t imagine wanting to kill for a house with that awful of a layout. You have to walk down multiple flights of stairs to get from the master bedroom to the toilet for bloody sake

aurora 𖦹Jun 30, 2024Man, this movie was genuinely scary in a way I wasn’t expecting. Simple, effective, all about the atmosphere, mood, style and crafts a contained horror that’s weird in all the right places. And every time I think it’s lost steam or jumped the shark, it sneaks up and GRABS…

aceAug 20, 2024The silence in this film is intense. You could be hearing noises from everywhere not knowing if it's your own home or the film. I did get creeped out many times and the jumpscares were effective. Although the story was a little weak, it's something original.

8.4 - I feel like this is only going to hit for a niche audience, but when that audience finds it, it is going to *hit.* Elite atmosphere & Irish folk horror vibes, very well executed jump scares, a lingering feeling of dread, a surprise amount of humor, & a pretty solid twist. The pace is *really*…
Whoever used the heart rating for this movie, please pass me whatever you were smoking that day because I know it’s something strong

Bit slow and feel like there’s plot holes in the storyline but kept me guessing the whole time. Was pretty creepy

This movie is incredibly slow. At first I was into it but then it just took way too long for anything to happen. Had some good parts but felt predictable as well. Overall it’s alright but if you don’t like super slow movies this might not be for you.
I didn’t expect to like this as much as I do but it was a good watch. I see why some would disagree but for a shudder film, I’m pleasantly surprised.

Metacritic
Oddity is one of the best horror movies of the year.
Thanks to its expert staging, the film doesn’t lose much in the way of immediacy.
McCarthy and editor Brian Philip Davis deploy high-voltage moments with expert timing, using the dark to their favor in refreshing fashion.
