sarah squirmMar 16, 2019Clive Barker’s world of gods and monsters. I’ll come right out and say it, I love this movie. It’s a story I’ve always been able to connect with over the years, no matter what my age is or whatever is going on in my life. Nightbreed was always in steady rotation during…
Ian WestOct 9, 2022On the one hand, this has some truly clunky and childish 80s fantasy storytelling that becomes hard to make excuses for at this length (the 2-hour director's cut), and Barker for all his impressive depths of gruesome imagination is not particularly deft at the…

Practically bursting at the seams with visual imagination and ideas but you can almost see the studio holding Barker back at every point and I just wish we could see what his big gay brain truly could have made if he had been allowed to make the film he wanted. Cronenberg…

what studio will pay $400 million for the Nightbreed rights and launch a new cinematic universe
David SimsOct 30, 2020Heteros declare war on homos and lose. David Cronenberg plays a psycho killer psychiatrist who dies in an incredibly phallic way. So many wonderful monster designs. X-Men by way of Nightmare on Elm Street.
merritt kJul 19, 2020This is a cult classic directed by Clive Barker! It had been decades since I have last seen it! I had even forgotten the story line! It was a very enjoyable fun watch! If you haven’t seen it give it a try or rewatch if you have!

weird but quite enjoyable my fav thing is the fact that most of it was practical effects, like the makeup and outfits; that’s always super cool to me and has a different feel from cgi stuff
I watched this movie when my friend was sleeping over. We were pulling an all-nighter and didn’t fall asleep during the movie so it wasn’t that it was boring :). Maybe it was poorly written, poorly acted, or I should have paid more attention, but I got pretty lost and confused.

One of my favorite Clive Barker films. First, David Cronenberg is fantastic as Decker. That mask. His persona. Fantastically creepy. Midian and its monsters are all unique and interesting. It’s a dark faerie tale where the humans are the strange and weird.
4/22/26 I really enjoyed the special effects and world building of Clive Barker . It was great to see the balance of horror and fantasy. David Cronenberg was wonderful to see and he brought Dr. Decker to life and he was amazing to see act

Gothic, weird, and richly imaginative. It’s definitely weird. It’s got that Halloweentown kinda feel but with a more mature & darker atmosphere. Creature effects are top-notch, and the worldbuilding is wonderfully strange.
I didn’t hate it … i didn’t love it either … seemed a bit messy … definitely worth a watch though…. It i had to sum it up in one word … i would say…. Interesting
