I'm sure this was hilarious when it was released in 1978, but now the humor is very dated. Sure there's still some laughs to be had, but I found it mostly annoying and almost all the characters were douchebags. It does deserve credit for influencing a lot of modern comedies…
The RonMar 24, 2018My dad will never forgive me for this but...it's just kinda fine?
Patrick WillemsSep 4, 2021For a movie called Animal Horse there were very few horses. Half star.

Pretty impressive how a movie can age so poorly and well at the exact same time.
Kenneth ClarkMar 10, 2018fun fact: the frat is based on the frat my grandpa was in when he was in college. he was in the same frat as harold ramis, the writer. i wonder which character he’s supposed to be
HannahMay 31, 2002I've been informed that my original review of this movie traded in a logical fallacy by implying that all of its fans are gross dads. My shame is overwhelming, my grief boundless. I've edited this review to reflect that. I no longer feel this is a dull and unfunny slog,…

A lot of dated comedy and some insane jokes to make but an otherwise fun, funny, and stupid movie about some dudes being idiots.
George CarmiOct 15, 2016Damn, is this film offensive or what! It's misogynistic, racist, anarchist, and quite stupid. But I kinda like it. I might just be a terrible person. 😱

super funny, very quotable, a little interesting considering it was made in the 1960s so some of the wording they choose to use is not that great now days but it is still overall such an amazing, classic movie. never gets old, always a great go to! a great background movie!!! ◡̈ !

I think this movie was mostly funny cause of how out-of-pocket it was. It kind of lost me and got a bit boring at some parts but nothing compared to other experiences I’ve had with movies. I really want to give this movie the benefit of the doubt so I may watch it again sometime.
10/10 john belushi’s character was spectacular, he was so out of pocket but that’s what made him so likeable. The way this whole movie made me feel like I was there instead of just watching. I wish I can watch this movie for the first time again!!

The humor is one of a kind in this movie. Crude, harsh, but hilarious in my opinion. It fits what frat houses and frat boys are like, and maybe exaggerates that a but too. It's memorable for sure.
A hilarious coming of age movie. I watched it with my college buddies and we were cracking up the whole time. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to see an incredibly profane movie.

While the low comedy is undeniably effective, the film leaves behind a bad taste of snobbery and petty meanness.
The movie is vulgar, raunchy, ribald, and occasionally scatological. It is also the funniest comedy since Mel Brooks made The Producers.
