Synopsis

  • Lars von Trier and Gaspar Noe should be made to watch this film on an endless loop until they learn something about basic cinematic decency.

    As impressive a mix of grindhouse sleaze and art film trappings as Taxi Driver, but Ferrara is so deep in the industry lower depths he knows there's no reason to compomise. Also Lund performance is high in the pantheon.

    Now i think this movie is brilliant a rape revenge movie needs to be treated with respect with the sensitivity subject matter and i think it does it brilliantly showing her press and how it changes her throughout the movie while not losing all her humanity 10/10 (16)

    It kind of reminded me of "Death Wish" in the sense that she got a taste of killing and then went seeking it out in the night. We've seen the rape revenge genre done plenty of times, but I think this one is a bit more effective since it's got an exploitation look to it.

    Miss thaannggg. .. that ending had me relieved. I love me some Thana but *spoilers* as soon as she “killed” the dog my perspective of her changed. But he came back home 🥰 RIP Queen Thana. You looked fabulous as a nun.

Ultimately, Ms. 45 is far more interesting and genuinely enjoyable (versus ironically enjoyable, as many of this vintage grindhouse flicks wind up being) than it has any right to be.

Abel Ferrera...has a tin ear for dialogue and an evident penchant for ludicrous material. But beyond that, he is clearly a talented fellow. One can only hope he finds something else to make movies about very soon.
