Atom User Reviews for Moana 2
Plot was very weak.
BETTER THAN 1; THE SONGS WERE NOT AS GOOD THO, BUT THE MOVIE WAS BEAUTIFUL. AS A 24 YEAR OLD MAN, I CRIED 6 TIMES.
The movie was amazing! my kids who are 6 & 15 both loved it. I honestly think this was better then the first one. Disney actually knocked it out the park with this one.
This movie had such potential. Everything sky it was rushed, glanced at, and underplayed. There were characters that wanted to be good characters, moments that wanted to be impactful, songs that could have been less trite and meaningless. Disney rushed it, and an otherwise good story was left wishing it got the love it deserved.
Trash
Wasn’t bad, a little dry at times.
Beautiful movie. My family loved it!
It's awesome like the first movie in 2016.
My wife and I actually attended this movie for date night. It was very cutesy … very mindful … very demure. Take the kids to see it. I’m an adult and I loved it.
Terrible quality
It had some creepy parts for kids. Though very similar copy and paste from the first movie. Stream it
Too much singing
This was so good I love it more then my child it was so many good parts can’t wait to see it again
Representation!!
The first one was way better!!! The movie was all over the place and the new villains weren’t the best pick tbh
The music was the only things wrong about it
It’s ok
Mid
Really wanted to love Moana 2 because Moana 1 is my fave. Really disappointed. Should have been streamed. Music is nothing like the first, which is a sound track I can listen to. Nothing memorable here. Boo! I’m sad we wasted money on this.
To short
A very good movie full of family values
good movie, not as good as the original, and the songs were over descriptive and forced. Had a great feel-good ending and fun, unique characters.
Not as good as the first one, but ok.
If you love lots of home made saucy music from the creators of the movie Moana 2 then this movie is for you. Lots of songs to fulfill your Moana 2 heart.
It was beautiful! My 13 year old daughter cried several times. The family liked it!
Story was quite beautiful and empowering for both girls and boys. I bawled in the pinacle scene. However, the songs didn't quite hit the sweet spot the first movie did. I did miss Lin Manuel Miranda's touch.
You guys said “descriptive video” nothing at all!
Great movie
Felt like a lot going on. Songs weren't nearly as catchy as the first movie. Felt rushed to wrap up plot points.
it was such a cute movie. music wasn't as memorable ad the first but I love the little details in the songs of the first one. love seeing the character progression and new ones too. very cute
Just as good as the first Moana and can not wait for the 3rd movie
Cute and heartwarming story! Kids enjoyed it. I like the music from the first one better.
Cool movie, the visuals were amazing. The story was OK.
A terrific sequel that tugs at your heartstrings
Overall good movie and a one time watch. Too much music and hence the 4 stars. Story was similar to last one but message is better.
Great sequel to the first and clues to a third? Stay for credits
Great family movie!
My son love this movie excelente
Utterly charming. Beautiful to see the animation work that went into it.
It was fun. Not as good as the original.
Very enjoyable and inspirational.
AMAZING
My son said this is now his favorite movie ever. I absolutely loved it myself and so did my husband.
Great story… not so great music
Moana 2 was surprisingly amazing, I went to see the movie with the right amount of expectations, and it was better than expected. It was very entertaining, good story line, and great characters. I also loved the visuals and the songs. Great movie!
The music wasn’t as great as the first one but it was a good movie
Loved it
My kids and I loved this movie! There was not a moment that made us feel bored. Definitely recommend.
There were moments for about the first maybe 60% of the film where you could tell that it was meant to be a TV show. Some cuts were obvious for where it would be an episode cliffhanger, or some scenes were obviously filler episode quality. It had great continuity, but the first half had the pace of a ten to twelve 20-minute episode. And it was further obviously a TV show by how it forgot Matangi so quickly when the characters were no longer in her realm (it was obvious that a TV show would have cycled back to it but a movie does not afford the same time). Overall, it was good. I liked the implication that Moana earns a Demi-god position; it felt like a good resolution, but again, that would be a season finale and the second season would have either focused on her (basically forgotten sister) or Moana facing the realities of being a demi-god. The motivation shift was not obvious and it was very action driven, ie getting to point B. The characters were a bit too stagnant for me.
Gimmicky rehash
Metacritic
In a movie that feels constricted in close-ups and boxed-in set pieces, the group’s music gives Moana 2 a much-needed epic quality. There are… devastating clunkers.
Too much of Moana 2 is simply far too familiar to make it anything more than a convenient escape.
Squint your eyes against the specifics, and the odyssey tends to deliver a mood that fluctuates along a scale of benign to bright.
