After watching 7 Police Academy movies this feels like a masterpiece
Patrick WillemsAug 27, 2021Solid evidence that Bill Murray in his prime could make absolutely anything (or absolutely nothing) funny. I cannot believe they made three more of these without him. This one is barely a movie with him in it!
Matt SingerMay 28, 2019watched for karstcast. liked this way more than i thought i would. it has tons of issues but it’s pretty innocent and has some really funny moments. will go more in depth on the next episode of KARSTCAST.

Bill Murray has enough charm to keep this afloat. It’s an easy watch but mostly unfunny.
George CarmiJun 16, 1982The kind of filmmaking that Ivan Reitman was engaged in back in his earliest films is a kind of filmmaking that truly feels dead and gone, but it is a kind of filmmaking I long for. It was a no gloss, set-up-and-shoot, rely on performances, make sure the writing was…
BradSimkuletDec 31, 2016This is still the quintessential summer camp movie. Feels like it invented the genre. Breezy, stupid and with a lot of heart. I've always loved this one.

bill murray and his little red short shorts carried this
NicoSep 9, 2016I watched this mostly because I'm still holding on to the last strings of summer before 8 months of snow and crippling depression sets in. It's not nearly as funny as I remember, but Bill Murray was born to be a star.
WoodOct 31, 2025See, this is the camp I wanted to go to as a kid, instead I got Christian camp where I got grief for not having a favorite Bible passage. Smiled a ton during this, was surprised how wholesome it was and how infrequently the campers’ lives were endangered. Murray pretty much…

I had been wanting to watch this one for a while, I thought because of when it was released it would be like another Porky’s, but it was actually a lot tamer. This is super cheesy, but it is slightly funny. Now I can say that I’ve seen it, but I probably won’t watch again.

An ok movie. Not good but not bad. Really no plot which is distracting and it’s hard to care about any of the characters. Somehow has some charming aspects but overall, eh. I could have not watched it and been fine.
It’s somehow devoid of plot. Nothing matters, no one wants anything, there’s really no reason anything is happening - but somehow it was still pretty charming.

Are you ready for the summer? Look past the lack of a plot and just have fun with the jokes and enjoy it.
Fun summer camp movie. Just needed a little more plot building. Murray makes it watchable.
