amayaNov 17, 201596/100 This was my first Scorsese joint, and for many years after that knockout viewing on Late-Night TV, it was my personal favorite film of his. It has a reckless, dangerous, and innocent energy that dances through every image, but the eventual tragedy is birthed from…

JayMar 16, 2016How does Martin Scorsese direct a scene? Beyond the soundtracks, the masculinity, the classic film references, the Catholicism, the violence, the misogyny, and all the what-not critics like to talk about when they don't talk about a movie, what does Scorsese do when he…

Something funny happened to me while watching this film tonight, for the first time and on 35mm. Perhaps it’s a little naive of me and shows how young I am as a film viewer still, but anyway. During the scene when Charlie (Keitel) and Johnny Boy (De Niro) are walking…

Great performances, great soundtrack and captivating cinematography. Scorsese brings together and all star cast that deliver a story that touches on themes of redemption, destruction and love. Must watch if you love gangster films. 8/10 See full review: https://boxd.it/6BkL33
it is an amazing film with great performance’s coming from Harvey Keitel and Robert de Niro, but for me if you asked me if I connected to this movie, I would say no I would rather watch Goodfellas, then mean streets but that’s just my opinion. Still I think it is a must watch.

the cast was really great, although i have to say i prefer goodfellas of scorsese, i was really pissed at johnny the whole movie it was so frustrating. Although its nice to see one of the first works of robert de niro and martin scorsese
I was surprised to find out that this movie exists cause nobody mentions it when talking about Martin Scorcese movies. I was worried that's cause it's bad, but not, it's actually a competently made, 70's "gangster" movie.

It's one of Martin Scorsese's early films, and this is definitely a good start in the mob genre, but I'd rather rewatch his later catalog.
“You know the business (Scorsese) and i know the chemistry (De Niro)… I'm thinking maybe you and I could partner up.” The first of many
