Good movie. When I watched this as a kid I never realized how fantastic Cher is in this... also Sam Elliot as a silver fox biker named Gar wearing a t-shirt that says “Moustache Rides" is a big mood.

#1 in my 80's Week marathon. That poster is one of the greatest examples of false advertising in the history of film. There is no beach and sunsets mean nothing here.

8.7 I really liked this movie. This was a heartwarming coming of age story with a lovable main character. The is movie delivers some strong emotions and themes and is very touching. Great performances as well with a great soundtrack

All of the performances are limited by the material and, in the case of Mr. Stoltz, by Michael Westmore's quite spectacular makeup. The exception - and the film's best sequence - occurs when Rusty's very middle-class, well-meaning parents, played by Estelle Getty and Richard Dysart, come to visit. In these few, brief minutes, Mask becomes specific and interesting. Otherwise it's the kind of story that would work better as a television feature.
