Atom User Reviews for Manchester by the Sea
Patiently-paced pathos.
Really boring, not much really happened, Casey affleck was worth ten dollars tho
Really slow however keeps you thinking for hours after...
Yes, it's a bit slow but looking back on it it was the way the story had to be told. It gives you a better feeling of the characters' lives and struggles. The acting was excellent and I'm glad Matt Damon couldn't do it because Ben Afleck was superb in the role.
Beautiful cinematography
Movie was not as interesting as I wanted it to be
Oscar Worthy for Casey Affleck !!!!
Slow, Slow, Slow.. Did I mention that it was SLOW..
Disappointing ending
A wonderfully depressing film. Dark humor at times that feels perfectly appropriate.
Couldn't wait for it to end and to make things worse the ending sucked!
thought it dragged at some points but it told the story. enjoyed it!
Ends w/o any resolution
It was ok . I had better expectations.

Manchester by the Sea is an experience worth having, not for the magnificence of its impact or the far-flung grandeur of its settings but for the way it illuminates with quiet, unyielding grace how you and I and our neighbors get by, and sometimes how we don’t.
At turns elegiac, absurdist, and gently satirical, Lonergan’s drama is a deeply affecting chamber piece that features an outstanding performance by Casey Affleck.
Powerful, emotional filmmaking that leaves a scar, Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester By the Sea is heartbreaking yet somehow heartening, a film that just wallops you with its honesty, its authenticity and its access to despair.
