The truly unique thing about the Mad Max franchise is how Max is less a character than a mythic figure, and how each film is less an entry in a continuing story and more a retelling of the myth of Max, with the details getting more extravagant and incredible as time goes…

a series of notes i wrote down while watching mad max 2 - could you imagine if George Miller made a Star Wars movie. this movie feels so distinctly inspired by Star Wars. i need lucasfilm to get BROKE and start making some big swings - not not gonna be Humungus for…

KarstenApr 20, 2015So, uh, yeah. I probably should have watched this sooner. (In my defense, I had seen MAD MAX and didn't particularly like it.) This movie is exactly one year and one day younger than I am, but it’s aged so much better than me. Next up, MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME. I'll be…

A straightforward action/adventure film, filled to the brim with over-the-top chases and stunts.
Just as entertainingly awful as the last one, but with an actually comprehensible story this time. Still, to everyone calling this unironically amazing, I have no clue what movie you watched. This is genuinely a travesty, but its thankfully a super entertaining one. I had a blast
TW: SA 1st watch, top 10 sequel, adrenaline filled, 80s blockbuster, dated but nostalgic, best stunts of all time, great set/direction I praise the pacing, execution, runtime Great pick for old movie buffs, maybe too much for a date night or friends. Leather filled cult classic!

A rare case where the sequel is better than the first. Slightly more entertaining and a little more cohesive. More dystopian. Still a lackluster story. You could getaway with skipping the first and starting the saga here. We even get a recap of the important bits from the 1st.
A definite upgrade over the second. While this isn't my favorite mad max film I can totally see if this one is someone's favorite. This is the one that really established the identity and tone of the series. Much less awkward and while not perfect some solid stuff.

Very good movie. I’ve been meaning to watch this with my father, we have the same taste and can ramble back and forth about our thoughts relating to the movie. Supposedly the best one. Very much enjoyed it, 80s had great films. Enough action and plot was wild.
Rewatch pre-Furiosa. Definitely a step up from the first, everything is heightened & more bonkers. Action scenes are incredible, stuntwork is awards-worthy & the production design is excellent. Gibson is good playing this character and the side-characters
