The movie alone did a good job telling the story of the lovers but I really wish we got more information of the dad’s background story. Overall the film is a must watch .

I LOVE A24's gritty, imaginative, original films. This was such a captivating story from start to finish! Great cast, excellent hair and makeup and set design. Love that it was set in the 80's. Great job at capturing everything from that time. Es Harris is an OG. I would've loved to have known all the details of his past, but really enjoyed the movie otherwise. I'm as straight as they come, but these girls had me ALL IN MY FEELS.

There’s still quite a bit to like here, from the strong sense of atmosphere to the layers of a Hitchcockian plot, but this is not a complete movie. And when viewers are laughing at a movie rather than with it, something has gone awry.

Ultimately, the true genre of “Love Lies Bleeding” is a Kristen Stewart movie. That genre, too, is one that the director neither expands nor reinvents.

Wherever these two love-crazed lesbians’ poorly-thought-out plans take them, we’re along for the dizzying ride.
