Y’ALL. this movie was SO GOOD. like??? i went in with NO expectations and i was shocked??? my hubs and i agree we would definitely watch it again… which is rare that either of us say, let alone agree upon. 1000/10!
This was so nearly perfect! The third act is excellent, but the rest needed to be just slightly more absurd for the comedy to work. I’m a few years this will be regarded as a ‘cult classic’. It has similarities to Heathers, Edward Scissorhands, and Death Becomes Her!
5.1 - It’s trying to do a lot of things - romance, campy 80s slasher, sci-fi, high school dramedy - but it doesn’t quite stitch them together cohesively. Another rewrite with some deeper character arcs & some actual heart would have breathed some much needed life into this.

this movie was insane, i loved it so much i’m so weak for weird dark romance and this was sooo good, it was so cute and funny and wild and totally felt like 80s too i’m obsessed with the couple they’re so sweet :( and taffy of course <3

They advertised it like a kids' film, but oh my. THIS IS NOT FOR KIDS. I can imagine a gigantic number of parents thought this was alright for kids. It's very unexpected. I knew this was a love story, but it's more. It's almost iconic. Lisas world, at least. It's refreshingly psychotic. The casting…
Lisa Frankenstein has a lot of fun ideas, and a laudable leading duo, however it doesn’t electrify enough -- and lacks the scares and gore to be classed as hefty horror and the giggles to rate as cracking comedy.

Good movie. A definite touch of Edward scissorhands, a dab of Heathers and the storyline of Warmbodies.
You will not expect how this movie ends. I will bet money on it.
Metacritic
Lisa Frankenstein can be fun, but there is a mean-spiritedness to Cody’s script that doesn’t fit with the film’s premise. It comes mainly at the hands of the creature whose victims are far from charming but don’t necessarily deserve the extreme comeuppance that’s dealt to them.
There’s enough verve in the concept and performances — and in debuting feature-maker Williams’ exuberant direction — to carry Lisa Frankenstein through.
Even as the film revels in violent, necrophiliac delights, the dialogue keeps everything grounded with its humor.
