I've seen this movie three times. I have TRIED to like it. But goddammit this is one of the most boring films I've ever seen in my life. Daniel Day-Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones are the only things holding this movie together.
James (Schaffrillas)Jan 17, 2018the truth is ive never seen anything with daniel day lewis nor seen him in real life and yall talk about him like hes a 80 year old veterern who somehow keeps coming back from the dead for an oscar and my first thoughts after seeing him at the globes? fit
JayOct 21, 2024Forgot that half the shots in this movie have Jeremy Strong in the background silently staring at Daniel Day Lewis in awe

Off the top of my head this movie has: Michael Stuhlbarg, Lee Pace, Walton Goggins, David Strathairn, Bruce McGill, Adam Driver, Jeremy Strong, David Costabile, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Jared Harris, Jackie Earle Haley, Peter McRobbie, the evil president…
Will MenakerJan 23, 2013I am a bit of a history freak. I love films that aim to illuminate and portray a period in history as accurately as they can. Lincoln is a prime example of this and while I fully understand that this film can be experienced as an overlong dull affair, to me it is a…
DirkHNov 22, 2020I think Lincoln could have worked better as a TV series so it could be shot in front of a live audience.

apologies to the plot but I was incredibly busy naming every actor I have ever seen in my life
Ella KempNov 21, 2012There’s an easy critique to make of Lincoln. It’s the latest in a long line of popular retellings of the Civil War that puts white men at the center of the narrative, marginalizing the very people who fought and died for the recognition of their own humanity. It’s more…
Matthew ChristmanDec 29, 2022there’s a lot of acting going on in this movie

If it wasn't a Spielberg or Daniel Day, I'd have given it more a dislike. I don't know how they do it but it caught the atmosphere of the time to exactly what my imagination thinks it was like. Dull, dark, damp, dusty, cold, and stenchy, especially during a brutal civil war. Unfortunately, the…

My dad is a history teacher and took me with him to watch this when it came out. I was a teenager at the time and still to this day it is the only movie I have ever fell asleep watching in a theater. It was way too slow for me.
I actually adored this movie. Yes, you can argue it was a slow burn. That is because it was done right. Well done time piece that portrayed everything to a tee. The environment, characters, events and dialogue is what kept me watching this 2 & 1/2 hour long movie. I would watch again and show…

This is one of, if not, the best biopic ever made. Arguably makes a case for a Top 10 movie ever. The acting was absolutely incredible, you can see the weight of responsibility and duty befall Lincoln throughout, on top of every supporting actor/character. 9.5/10
