A link to the past. Very strong chance that this may be the most visually appealing movie as far as my tastes go—beautiful on all fronts with lush scenery, hypnotic visual atmos soundwaved with euphoric tones courtesy of Tangerine Dream, the best goblins and melty faced…

There are whale noises playing over slow-mo shots of unicorns in a forest...how could this be any less than a four star movie?

A truly bizarre amalgamation of picturesque surroundings plucked straight from an antique fairy tale and an open-and-shut good vs evil parable - a gloriously wacky experience. Ridley has done it all, really.

a rare ornate gem of a film, easily among the best of ridley scott's work, back when his visuals were lush & overwhelming in detail instead of stringent and aseptic. legend coasts along on intuitive ethereal vibes, a tactile set-bound fantasia of slime-slick goblins,…

With sets that are on the right side of artifice, cinematography that casts spells, and above all seamlessly surreal makeup design, this fantasy absolutely looks the part. Yet narratively, it’s at once overly explicated and slimly imagined.

Despite all its sound and fury, Legend is a movie I didn't care very much about. All of the special effects in the world, and all of the great makeup, and all of the great Muppet creatures can't save a movie that has no clear idea of its own mission and no joy in its own accomplishment.

Mr. Cruise goes through all this nonsense gamely, as if it were an initiation into a fraternity he wants very much to join.
