Synopsis
Based on the international anime sensation, Knights of the Zodiac brings the Saint Seiya saga to the big screen in live-action for the first time. Seiya (Mackenyu), a headstrong street teen, spends his time fighting for cash while he searches for his abducted sister. When one of his fights unwittingly taps into mystical powers he never knew he had, Seiya finds himself thrust into a world of warring saints, ancient magical training and a reincarnated goddess who needs his protection. If he’s to survive, he will need to embrace his destiny and sacrifice everything to take his rightful place among the Knights of the Zodiac.

Nothing better than when people make a “live-action” version of a beloved manga/anime and replace the gorgeous artwork and animation with butt ugly CGI effects. Plus: Checked-out Hollywood types instead of impassioned voice actors. What an upgrade!

VVVictor VictorForcing the Saint Seiya story into a live action version results in a lot of cut storylines and plot points. Although the casting was pretty solid. But otherwise, it’s a mediocre movie.

Fans of the comics will certainly get more out of it than newbies like me. All we see is all the other middling YA sagas it resembles, borrows from and fails to match or improve upon.

Knights of the Zodiac is a good production in terms of its action and cast. But when one focuses so much on the fantasy-action set-pieces, having a soulless story makes all efforts fall flat.
