monkey mondays #52 hits pretty hard as the final film of a yearlong monkey movie challenge. very happy and a little sad to wrap up one of the dumbest things i’ve ever committed to
KarstenMar 20, 2021Perfect merging of Jackson's love of 30s adventure romances & monster movies, the technological advances of Spielberg and Cameron, and the nasty genre movie playfulness he got growing up on Romero and Raimi. Has to be one the most beautiful, sentimental, and old-fashioned…

They didn't have to make Kong that dummy thicc, but they did it for us.
adamboltApr 6, 2021Watched Peter Jackson's King Kong for the first time in forever. It rules so hard. This movie is extremely underappreciated and doesn’t get talked about as often as it should. An unapologetically melodramatic, romantic, indulgent, and a grand old fashioned adventure story…
NakulJan 26, 2021God, I love this movie and I don't care who knows it. What turned out to be Jackson's last gasp as a filmmaker of true vision and excitement, which is all the more impressive considering he takes a limited and already-remade concept and strips it of its underlying racial…

There are moments where King Kong feels larger than life— the intimate moments between Kong and Ann or the bug pit— really showcase Jackson flexing his cinematic muscles. So it’s all the more frustrating to see it fumble through unnecessary detours and become distracted by…
Joe AJul 7, 202570 Peter Jackson's Snyder Cut. Nothing is left on the cutting room floor. You'd think that the 3 hour and 20 minute extended edition would add further characterization and dramatic beats but it's mostly additional scrimmages with Skull Island creatures, as if it didn't…

This ist way more than just a movie about a monster attacking New York. The main character is great in its unlikeability and even King Kong himself is a fleshed out character to have sympathy for. Also I loved you don't even get to see the ape until half way through the movie
Despite being over three hours long, it almost felt unfinished. There were a lot of unnecessarily long-winded scenes, and I found the ending a little disappointing. Also, I thought Anne Darrow’s character was kinda badly written. Looking past all this, it was pretty entertaining!

The movie had everything a great movie needed. The storyline was suspenseful and I build an opinion on different characters. Even though the dinosaurs were quite unexpected, they created atmosphere and great action scenes! I was quite sad at the end, but humanity was represented
This movie is over hated AF It is extremely accurate from the original adaptation. It provides excellent world building for Skull Island with the creatures , & I actually appreciate the build up leading up to the Mighty King Kong 🦍. “It was Beauty Killed the Beast” 🌃

Another film that I had previously ranked incorrectly, I absolutely love this film and find it to be one of the best Taiju films to date. Truly astonishing along with performances from Jack Black, Naomi Watts, Adrian Brody & as always Andy Serkis. CGI is some of the best we’ve ever seen and wish we…
really nice visuals and i felt sad for the monkey :( the story felt incomplete without any aftermath and after his whole realisation scene that he should tell her he loves her, he doesn’t which made that part of the story feel incomplete too, also what’s with the racism yikes 22/07/25
