Synopsis
Liz and Malcolm travel to a secluded cabin for a romantic anniversary getaway. However, Malcolm unexpectedly returns to the city, leaving Liz alone in the cabin, where she soon confronts a sinister presence and the cabin's chilling past.

i think it could’ve stood to be a little less abstract but overall i didn’t mind it i appreciated the themes of giving up parts of yourself in a relationship i do wish that some things were foreshadowed a bit more but the imagery was pretty freaky so i enjoyed myself

I saw this with Scott in WoodGreen, Tatiana’s acting was superb. The first 2 acts were slow, the ending after she realised the truth wasn’t clear enough - i left confused. Unsure of the significance of the cake, why she was the original mother from 200 years ago and at a river.

Ultimately, one suspects Perkins views Liz’s dilemma as little more than an excuse to construct a fun exercise in nightmare inducement that possesses the same craftsmanship that Malcolm clearly put into his swanky cabin. Each is a sight to see and neither is worth visiting for too long.

To add insult to injury, just when things are finally about to get nasty, a character effectively sits us down for a tedious exposition dump that explains the whats, whys and hows of it all. It’s this very lack of trust in its viewers that comes as the film’s most upsetting development.
