Synopsis

In a Kaiju-filled Japan, Kafka Hibino works in monster disposal. After reuniting with his childhood friend Mina Ashiro, a rising star in the anti-Kaiju Defense Force, he decides to pursue his abandoned dream of joining the Force... when he suddenly transforms into the powerful "Kaiju No. 8." Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon is a condensed recap of Season 1 plus a short fun special at the end. Overall entertaining and a great way to get ready for Season 2 (if you've seen Season 1, otherwise you'd be missing a lot).

This is supposed to be a recap of the first season, but they did an awful job at that. They cut Kikoru and Kafka’s relationship, the entirety of Kaiju No. 9, and the entire climax of the season. The Hoshima episode at the end of this was really good, but this is still a bad recap

It was a good recap movie and I really enjoying seeing it on the big screen. I’m just sad that they cut what I would consider important scenes, like fight with Kaiju no 9 after the mushroom Kaiju mission. And like how do you cut the last 2 episodes

would've been perfect if the numerous scenes weren't deleted, but I can only accept this because it is a recap, and it is good for once! a bit rushed, but the main story was impeccable beside the lack of the original funny scenes.

I might be in the minority here, but I prefer this cut instead of watching an entire season. My only complaint is that I’d prefer a peek at Season 2 in place of the side story after the credits.
