Synopsis

Never trust random strangers on the Internet – unless they’re famous, of course! That’s the mess Annie (Rose Byrne) finds herself in after spending 15 years in a dead-end relationship with her boyfriend Duncan (Chris O’Dowd). Part of their problem was that Duncan was more devoted to his obsession with the mysterious musician Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke) than anything else, much to Annie’s chagrin. But when Annie finds herself in an email correspondence with the elusive rocker, she may discover that a little transatlantic romance with her boyfriend’s idol is the cure to all her frustrations. Based on the novel by Nick Hornby (_About a Boy_).

A good date night film. Enjoyed the acting and writing, just ended a little abruptly. Needed a little more story.

Yes, it’s a formula and we’ve been here before. But the characters are engaging, the performances elevate the material, and the various dilemmas of each gives this more layers than you might expect.

Open-hearted and sure to resonate with more than a few viewers, Juliet, Naked roms and coms in the most charmingly honest ways.

Were it not for Byrne’s endearingly optimistic performance, most of the charm of Juliet, Naked would be swept away.
