This is how I imagine the slightly racist, white country girls with bible passages in their Instagram bios at my university act like when they get home.

- Mason Prince likedHouse of 1000 Corpses
House of 1000 Corpses retains a chokehold of tension across its entire near 90 minute runtime. A nasty, depraved film full of masterful editing and twisted cinematography make for a horrifying introduction to Mr Zombie’s greasy, grindhouse style. 9.9/10

Bennie is "meh" onHouse of 1000 CorpsesDisturbing in every way with bizarre characters and atmosphere. It’s camp and aesthetic, as long as you don’t mind a little gore. The editing is what I loved the most. It also has all the negatives; weak narrative, underdeveloped characters, while being messy and disjointed. 6
Drangsal lovedHouse of 1000 Corpses🟡Is it all over the place? Yes. Does the whole Doctor Satan storyline amount to a pretty confusing ending? Totally. However, this gave me everything I needed in the hillbilly-horror-trashy-trippy-70s-backwoods department, which filled my TCM-loving heart with joy. Baby rules! 🔴

If you like gore then this is the movie for you. I like scary movies that have more story telling or a significant antagonist to focus on, this feels like gore and violence thrown together and hoped for the best. I know a lot of ppl do like this movie though, so give it a try
John Doe likedHouse of 1000 CorpsesThis is one of the most deranged movies I have ever seen in my life, proceed with caution. However, I do love the character Captain Spaulding, he is quite entertaining and hilarious. If not for him I may not have watched the other films after this.
Jo Jo is "meh" onHouse of 1000 CorpsesFirst half is good, got really sick of Baby and her mom and really stopped caring about everyone. Chop top is better, wish Dr. Spaulding was in it more, would have been a more interesting watch throughout. Rob Zombie has a really fun editing style

Shock-rocker Rob Zombie's loving homage to flat-out nasty horror films of the 1970s will leave many post-Scream (1996) horror fans cold because of what it's not. It's not slick or glossy. It's not funny or self-referential.
Maitland McDonagh
TV Guide Magazine
Zombie's film plays more like an experimental pastiche than an outright homage to those classic road-trip-gone-wrong movies.
Peter Debruge
Premiere
Kicks off as a cheap piece of retro schlock and quickly devolves into a putrid bloodbath with a thin narrative made utterly indecipherable by the first-time director's clueless approach to filmmaking.
