I couldn’t even finish it… I wanted to like it so bad but I just was bored halfway til the end. I’m not a huge fan of older movies and I know this is a classic but I was disappointed 🤦🏽‍♀️

Classic, I LOVE Winona ryder. Such a great actor. I usually don’t like to watch movies with the “mean girl meets weird pretty girl who doesn’t fit in” trope, but this was well executed. Super enjoyable movie, definitely recommend!

There’s an ironic detachment that permeates the dark fairy-tale atmosphere, and the performances are pitched to that heightened David Lynch-like caricature.

More than just one of the best movies so far this year, it is a revolution in young-adult entertainment.

It's shockingly funny - you don't sit there deciding to laugh. Your own laughter catches you by surprise. [14 Apr 1989]
