Synopsis

Remember when you wanted to be in a band with your dad? Yeah. We don’t either. But when Sam and her Brooklyn hipster dad start a band just before she heads to college out west, something clicks and their first song becomes an internet hit. Great news for a dad who has dreams of stardom, but a bit of a complication for a daughter who’s ready to leave home. With Kiersey Clemons (Transparent and Angie Tribeca), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Ted Danson, Toni Collette and Blythe Danner.

This was a movie that speaks to the truest sense of love and reality of what has happened to music in the last 20 years. If you enjoyed movies like High Fidelity and Empire Records, you'll feel this one. Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons were great together and I can't wait to see what she does next.

Heartfelt and unassuming but likely to prompt a few complaints that it doesn't ring true.

It gets away with missteps because of how consistently heartwarming and affable the people on screen are. Clemons and Offerman are especially effective, with Frank’s earnestness comically shot down by Clemons’ quick-witted preciousness.
